Too Much Junk

I wish I could get rid of all the soliciting phone calls I get every week.  Since our home phone doesn't have caller ID, I can't screen calls.  And, it also doesn't have a machine so if I don't answer, I'll never know who called.  I've added our phone number to the national Do Not Call List, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  I probably get 1 call a day, a lot of days 2 calls, that are just solicitors!

And, then there are solicitors who come to the door.  I need to put a sign out so stop that.

Also, all the junk mail that just takes up my time to sort through.  I don't know if there is anything you can do to stop getting junk mail, but it's such a waste of paper and my time!

All of this is extra stuff to deal with.  Like I don't have enough essential stuff to deal with already!

I'd put your number on the do not call list again. You have to re-do it frequently... Dumb, I know! :) Sometimes they clear the list so you just have to keep on it.

PS... I'm not sure you remember me, but I'm from Kanab. Alisha Williams and Shaylee Williams are my sisters.

We put a No Solicitor sign on the front door. Adds ugliness too the door but so far works 100%

write down the solicitor phone caller, then say put me on the DO NOT CALL LIST.. AND here is a clincher! if its an automated system, then just listen to the whole thing, at the end it will say press a number to be put on the do not call list. I promise after 1 week your calls will not happen so much. :-)

We have the same problem with the phone calls--and I've put our numbers on the do not call registry many times (yes, even our cell phones). I also tell every solicitor who calls (when I actually answer) to please not call again.

Oh, and as for the junk mail--I used to get junk mail from Geico about every day, and finally, I noticed in the fine print that I could remove my address from their system by going to a website. You might want to check that with your junk mail. I haven't found that to be the case with ALL junk mail, but it did work in that instance.

To stop all the crazy phone calls at our house we dropped Qwest and went with a cable phone thru www.ooma.com. It has the best feature called blacklist. Someone calls you, you add that number to the blacklist then everytime they try and call back they get a disconnected number recording. Ooma also has a community blacklist you can use that knows 1000's of numbers of scammers and telemarketers and those numbers are automatically. We have used it since January and no more calls we don't want. The best part is that it only costs $11.75 a year after the first year. You do have to buy the Ooma box, but after 4 months of no Qwest bill it paid for itself. No phone bills for us and no waste of time calls.
