Okay people...I need to know where your favorite vacation was. Not where you would like to go, but where you recommend, based on your own good experience, we (including the kids) should go.
If you're talking within the United States I'm your girl. I've been to em all, almost. Personally, I love Florida beaches but you can never go wrong with California. I especially love Newport/Balboa and also San Diego. You could even go inland to Disneyland! My all time favorite park. New York City is always amazing... and same with Washington D.C. but I'd go with NYC over DC. Seattle is cool too if you like rain, fish, and cherries. You could venture up to Forks! Anyway those are my favorites... everything in between is just alright (;
San Antonio Texas is supposed to be really good. The last time I went was when I was a kid and I remember that it was fun. Same with Austin. I really loved Dallas when I went last summer--lots to do, very family friendly, but it was hot.
I also love Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, which isn't too far from there. We went there when I was in high school for Fall Break one year and it was just beautiful. We stayed in Jackson Hole and drove into Yellowstone for day trips for the few days we were there, hiked some, etc. Corey and I also went when I was pregnant with Westley and we lived in Idaho Falls.
Lots of the national parks in California (Redwood forest, Yosemite, etc.) are great family trips too, and you can camp if that's up your alley.
Since I've been an adult, I've mostly been in the West, but as a kid, I got to see Revolutionary war sites in New England and go to that Colonial Williamsburg, which was fun.
Also, Michigan has Mackinac Island, which is like going back in time.
Of course, I love visiting the National parks and Church history sites in Utah. There's always Nauvoo and the church history sites back that way too that are a great trip (which I did as my senior trip after graduating h.s.).
We just got back from California. It was so cool! We just went to the beach one day- it was one that had a little river that went up into the beach so little kids can play in it. It wasn't busy at all! Then the next day went to San Diego. It was neat to see Dawson go nuts over the animals. We would have gone to some animal museums there but car broke down... but it was way fun and highly recommended!
My favorites would have to be the Bahamas - mostly Paradise Island in Nassau - and Rocky Point Mexico. We have had awesome vacations to both! Austin begs for us to go to Rocky Point! And the plus to Rocky Point is that it is only 5-6 hours from here. And the plus to the Bahamas is that cruises are dirt cheap right now. We recently found a 7-day to the Bahamas for $299 pp. AWESOME price! Unfortunately, we have to pass right now, but can't wait to go again!
If you are going big, then cruise the mediterranean. Italy, France, Spain...life-changing. If you are going stateside then Hawaii is your destination; can't go wrong; so much to do and soooo much fun. Jason and I spent a few weeks there when we got engaged. I am a beach person though.
The New England area is really cool. Plus if you go, you could probably stay with Kirks parents in Connecticut for free. However my favorite vacation has been to Orcas Island, which is off the coast of Washington state. We flew into Seattle for $88 each way and rented a car and drove up to the port and drove our car right onto the ferry. Its SO relaxing up there! Very calm and the scenery is gorgeous! You can also go whale watching during the late spring and summer.
I love Yellowstone too! I haven't been for awhile but it was so pretty when we went. The only problem is it gets really cold in the winter, but if you like to cold then go for it. So about the dance...my brother-in-law and I learned it. We just googled "Hannah Montana hoedown throwdown dance and it came up. There's even a site that she and the choreographer teach you themselves. Here it is http://video.yahoo.com/watch/4615297/12341400
