Music

I need recommendations for running music. Right now my favorite to listen to while I run is David Cook, but I need some new stuff. Any ideas?

Some people like soft music, but I prefer kind of loud upbeat music. If you go to iTunes you can find a lot of good running music/albums that you can hear demos of if you search under, "Nike, exercise music, running music" and similar searches. Personally, I run to Linkin Park, Evanescence, Green Day, Blink 182, Bush, Dashboard Confessional, Eve 6, 311.... and other similiar bands. I found that running with the right kind of music really changed the way I run. Good luck!

P.S. I'm not sure if you can listen to the same stuff over and over again (I can't, it drives me crazy)... so you'll probably want to have a few hours of songs lined up for your long runs and for race day. =)

Sherwood's album "a different light" is one of my favorites to run to. It's pop rock sounding. But I also like listening to hip hop. Anything that gives me energy, that I would dance to... it's a real motivator for me.

Ooh, I'm with Connie. I love Sherwood. I don't run with music, but I bet they'd be great to run with.

Who the heck is David Cook?

I love the Get Up Kids. But they're an old band. But they're really rockin and upbeat.

I just put my ipod on "Shuffle Songs" and let it go at it. I've got lots of stuff on there and so it'll come across general conference talks (which are great when I'm out running in the hills), musicals, latin music, upbeat music, gentle music, etc. If I ever am not in the mood for anything I just skip it.
Some of my favorites for running are The New Pornographers (don't be scared away by the name), Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley, Tilly and the Wall, and most poppy things. The ones that make me perk up and lengthen my stride.

I just recently posted a few playlists w/ over 7 hrs of music for runners based on their running pace. Perhaps you'll find some to add to David Cook :) The songs have a faster Beats Per Minute (BPM) so you don't subconsciously slow down to the beat of a song. It has a lot of alternative/indie bands, but also rock and some R&B... The Killers, Gorillaz, XTC, Kings of Leon, Kooks, Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Matchbox Twenty, Stones, The Police, etc. All songs are either inspirational, about running, or just fun. Check it out at:
