Henry Turns 3

For Henry's birthday we decided to go up to the cabin.  Nana planned a fun little pirate party that started with popping cannon balls.
Then Jaxon and Henry got into a brawl over who knows what and I sat on the couch to capture the mess with photos.  After a few punches were thrown, Devin decided it was time to step in.
(I don't just let them fight it out all the time, but sometimes, yes, I do.  They need the chance to figure some things out on their own.)

Ollie was adorable, even when he got sleepy and a little fussy.

After the brawl, it was time to go on a pirate treasure hunt!

The treasure they found was a pirate pinata.  Because it had rained on and off all morning we couldn't hang the it outside.  So, Daddy tried holding it and with Jaxon swinging the bat I'm sure you can guess what happened.  Seconds before, Josh even said, "We all know how this turns out.  We should be filming this."  He was right.  I felt bad as Devin dropped to the floor, but we all couldn't help but laugh!
Yummy red velvet cake (of Henry's choosing)

Devin and Josh went fishing that morning and also caught some crawdads.  We boiled them up and tried to eat them.  I'm not sure if we'll be doing it again or not...
That's what Jaxon thought of the crawdads:
But they were fun to wear on his finger!
Yep, Ollie is under the couch.  He rolls all over when he plays now and he ended up under there.
Little cowboy!
My man even looks attractive in his fishing t-shirt, baggy pants, and hiking boots!
Enjoying the beautiful weather while shooting BB guns off the balcony.
Lucky Henry got some Harry Potter legos from Nana and Papa!
He's so good at playing on the floor with a couple toys.
This is Ollie's crawling stance.  He gets into this position and hasn't figured out to drop that right knee.  If he does, he automatically falls to his tummy.  He's so close, but hasn't quite got it yet!
(He just turned 8 months.)

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to go and have family time together.  It was such a great weekend!
Happy birthday to Henry!

R & R

This weekend we went up to the cabin for some rest and relaxation.  It was so great to get away and spend time with family.  Devin and Jaxon went up one night earlier than everyone else.  There was a circus in town so they went to that.  They saw lots of fun stuff like tigers, bears, and balancing chair acts.  In the morning, they went fishing and caught 3 fish.

Jaxon got his pants wet and wanted to take them off while they dried.
Another fun thing we did was go shooting.  We also visited and laughed, ate cinnamon rolls, apple pie, and hot dogs, played frisbee golf--no one could beat Josh, searched for desert bugs for Aaron's class, and ate more food!

I was bummed to miss the Relief Society broadcast, but I set the DVR to record it before we left so I can still watch it:)

Fishing Trip

Devin has wanted to learn how to fish for a while, so he talked to his cousin Aaron and they planned a trip to the cabin. They caught a few, but had to come home early because Devin was really sick so we didn't even get to eat the fish:(
Jaxon was a little apprehensive of the first fish Devin caught, but then became interested. Both boys basically climbed all over the rocks along the lake for the couple hours we were there.

Devin's Birthday

Devin turned 26 on August 31. He wanted to make his own cake and it was delicious! It was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, all from scratch, but do I even have to say that now? All you people know he would never make a boxed cake...or would he???

Anyway, he's old now so I just wanted to post the pic:)

AND...We went to his grandparents' cabin with his family to celebrate. Here's some pics from the trip...

B-day lunch--burgers at a Mexican food joint. They're supposed to be "the best."
Also at the Mexican food place...french fries? Yep.
B-day cake
Jaxon wanted to wear the helmet all day! It was kinda funny when he'd run into things because it was so big.
This is outside an antique shop. Devin was thrilled to go antiquing on his b-day trip! Ha-right...But, he was a good sport about it. Hen was just so cute!

Love those lips!

Halloween 2008

Jax was Buzz, of course.
Henry was just Henry, but what could be better:)
My parents came to the trunk-or-treat to see the boys. The had some pretty fancy costumes too! (Devin's chili was a hit:) )
On Saturday, we went up to Devin's grandparents cabin outside of Payson. The theme was "high school." Devin was the Prom King complete with construction paper crown and I was a track star sporting a genuine Westwood jersey. Devin's parents were coaches, Reina was a super smarty pants, Elisha was a gothic chick and her husband Josh was a nasty staff worker.
We did carmel apples for an activity and Jax loved it!

Deep Space Pine or Pine-0210?

Devin's grandparents recently sold their cabin in Utah to buy one closer. They found one outside of Payson and we went up for the first time last week. Their previous cabin was named "Aspen Ridge" by the family because, you guessed it, there were aspen trees all over. So, in an attempt to come up with an awesome name for the new cabin, we sat around the table from about 11 pm to midnight and came up with some real winners! Well, at least we thought so at that time of the night. Here are some of our ideas:

Memoirs of an Aspen
Aspen Ridge: The Next Generation
See above title of post. (I don't know what it was, but once we got on Star Trek/pop-culture ideas, we couldn't stop...)

Yeah, no good.

I guess Grandpa read through the suggestion box and decided we needed to think harder and come up with something we can actually use. We didn't get a good name, but we sure had fun trying. I don't know how we'll actually think of a name...

Anyway, here were some of the fun happenings while we were there:

Jaxon fell down a few stairs and got his first fat lip. He still wanted to say "Cheese" for the camera!
A few days after our first trip, we went back up. This time, we took my parents for a night. Jaxon loved this tractor we saw on our walk.
My dad said this is a bird's nest in the dirt. We've never seen that before.
Devin and Dad wanted to crack some black walnuts we gathered on our walk. Those nuts have such hard shells, they used a sledge hammer to crack them outside on the cement.
We are really blessed to have a close place to go where the weather is beautiful and we can have fun adventures as a family!
