Finally, the 4th!

I didn't ever post these because there are so many and it was too overwhelming, but I decided I couldn't put it off any longer! So...here is how our 4th of July 2009 celebrations went...

We went to Lake Arrowhead with Devin's family for a few days.  It was so much fun to get away!

We put Henry to bed and went to watch the fireworks over the lake.

Devin doing the bbq

We went to some shops and the kids got free hot dogs.  Looks like Jaxon sure loved his!

Here we are overlooking the beautiful scenery

We all decorated shirts for the holiday:)

The beautiful lake!

A Little Behind...

I'm a little behind with scrapping...We had an awesome 4th, which I still need to post about, but in the mean time, here are some cute pics!

The boys got this slide from Granny & Grandpa Judd for Christmas and they LOVE it! The best part is, it's small enough that it fits in the toy room so they don't have to be outside to play on it.

Henry climbs up and sometimes he falls to get down, but usually he starts yelling when he wants help getting down.
I think he is just TOO CUTE!
Devin is such a good daddy. He does baths and bedtime every night.
Jaxon loves chocolate! Though it's rarely necessary, we can usually bribe him to do anything if we say the words "chocolate chip" or "M&M."

Razor Blades

Yesterday I needed to pick up some blades for Devin's razor. So as I looked over all the options (and realized they were all so expensive!) I thought to myself,

"Are 4 blades really better than 2?"

The razor I use has 2 blades and my legs are always really smooth (when I get around to shaving them...)

Anyway, after getting Devin's refills (with 4 blades) I decided to treat myself to a new razor, also with 4 blades. It's a Schick Quattro. The package says, "Long-lasting smoothness so you could skip a day or two." Wait, who doesn't skip a day or two? Who really shaves everyday anyway? I'm looking for a razor that allows me to skip 6 or 7 days...anyone know of one like that?

So, I was wondering, how many blades does your razor have and do you really think more is better?

7 Things Tag

I was tagged by my pal Ashtyn so here it goes...

7 things you may or may not know about me:

1. I feel old. I know it's pretty ridiculous at my age. Devin and I have been married for almost 5 years and that seems like a long time to me! I'm 22, married with 2 kids, own a house, a minivan, have 2 dogs. That's all so...grown up! It's just weird, but I'm slowly coming to reality. I don't know what I'm gonna do when I get wrinkles!

Devin is here looking over my should and read what I just typed and said, "Ruthann..." like he thinks I'm crazy. Yep, it's okay. I think I am too.

2. I wish I could say I was voted something cool in high school. I really would have liked "best dressed," or "nicest smile" or "most likely to be successful." But my senior year I was voted "heart braker." Geez. I still don't really know what that's supposed to mean...any ideas? Please let me know.

3. Thanks to my Dyson I am obsessed with vacuuming. I really like the house clean anyway, and vacuumed really often before the Dyson came into my life, but I think it has now become an obsession. No, I don't know if it's that serious...is 4 days a week serious?

4. I'm scared to dive into a pool. There is just something about going head-first into water that scares me. Devin has tried to help me, but I just can't get myself to do it.

5. I had breast implants! I know a lot of people thought I did and I always said I didn't, but it's true.

6. I don't like chocolate chip cookies or brownies. I've been told it's "un-American." Yuck. And I don't really like cakes either. I love ice cream and pies, fruit pies, not cream pies.

7. I have an Associate of Arts degree and plan on getting my Bachelor degree, but I can't decide what to major in. I always loved my math and biology classes, but honestly, I don't want to do something that hard! Lazy, huh? I also LOVED speaking Spanish when I took it in college, but that's pretty hard too. Interior design really interests me and so does psychology and they don't seem as serious. So...do I really challenge myself to take something I really enjoy? Or still go for something that interests me, but I'm not really passionate about?

Then there is the issue of what kind of job I could get with the degree. With Devin being a teacher, I don't really want a job where I have to work in the summer because he'll be off! And, since I don't plan on working until the kids are in school, I've got time to decide...

Okay, number 5 is NOT true. I have NOT had breast implants. People really have asked me thought so I thought it'd be funny to see if people believed me. Did you?

Since that one was a fake, here's a real number 5...

5. I think I'm getting dummer. I hear and say words like, "potty" and "diaper" and "don't smoosh your brother!" all day long. I feel like I need more intellectual stimulation. That's what got me thinking about #6 in the first place.

Wow, I just realized how I spelled dumber up there. Point proven.

BFF's

Jaxon loves playing at his friend Landon's house. They're about a year apart and such good buddies!

Henry tries to tag along, but sometimes those boys are just too big. So, he decided to find some trash on the floor and eat it. Good alternative.

10 Months!

He's 10 months! Yikes! Where did the time go?!

He took his first steps on Sunday, June 21. He's taken a few everyday since, but hasn't made too much progress. He'll get there...though, I do hope it's soon! This week I went to a myropractor (LOVED IT) because my back has been killing me! She said my biggest problem is the 20 & 30 pound kids I carry around. Yeah, Henry, we need to train harder!

T-I-double G-er

It was long sleeved so she cut off the sleeves and sewed them to a pair of underwear for legs.

He was excited with just the legs on!
Henry playing with Gramps and waiting patiently...
Here he is drawing stripes on a pair of socks.
What a wonderful Granny to sew such an awesome costume!
Jaxon was so happy! After it was done, he jumped on the trampoline while saying, "Boing, boing, boing..."

Op-A-Pus

Ever since we went to the aquarium in San Diego, Jaxon has been playing with his toy sea animals. As he sat on the floor with the octopus yesterday, he said...

"He's a op-a-pus. These sippy cups? These suction cups."

Then he said this to himself...

"I told Gramps they're sippy cups, but they're not. They're suction cups."

It was just so cute to hear how his language is developing and his sentences are becoming more complex.

Sometimes we eat out since Daddy's not here...

I haven't ever bought pudding snack packs before because I'm sure they're not good for you, but these said "no preservatives" and looked like an easy, fast snack so I just did it, plus they were a good deal at Costco. Almost everyday Jaxon and I sit at the counter during Henry's afternoon nap and have a pudding snack. I enjoy it as much as he does!

Wes is a J-E-R-K!

Wow, if she picks him I will feel really bad for her. At this point, if I were one of those guys who Wes said all that stuff to, I would say something to Jillian now. Next week looks like he just gets worse!

I can't believe she let Jake go! She's so sweet and was totally falling for her! Maybe he'll be the next Bachelor...

Tagged: 8 Things

I was tagged my friend Connie and yes, I'm always excited for Mondays!

8 Things I did Yesterday
1. Woke up feeling like I was having labor pains because my back hurt so much from a workout I did. My back was already giving me trouble, but something happened during this workout that now makes me feel like I'm having a baby whenever I bend down...what the heck happened? I wanted to be sore because then I knew I had a good workout, but this is not the right kind of good sore.
2. Dropped my brothers brand new iphone. He had it for literally like 43 minutes when I dropped it in the parking lot and scratched it! Dang. I felt so bad! Luckily, he's nice and didn't swear at me or anything. I said he could chuck my phone across the parking lot, but he passed on the offer.
3. Went to Target and bought some shirts and a new purse! Don't tell Devin! He has thing thing about my purses. When we first got married as was buying a new one like once a month and so I acquired quite a few. But, now I rarely buy one, but when I do, he definitely notices. So, here's a trick I learned from a girlfriend...after you buy it, don't use if for a while, then when you use it and he asks, "Is that new?" you can honestly say, "Nope, I've had it up in the closet for a while." Great plan!
4. Went shopping for fruits and veggies at Superstition Ranch Market--my new Happiest Place on Earth! (A post about this fabulous place coming soon.)
5. Went to Fry's without Jaxon (he was with my mom). That was a wonderful experience. It's SO much easier to shop without a toddler!
6. Ate Crazy Sub...Delicious! There is just something about a hot Poorboy that makes any day wonderful!
7. Watched Marley & Me...SO CUTE! I just might have to buy it. If anyone has seen it, the scene where Jennifer Aniston freaks out and wants to get rid of the dog because she's got two kids and it just so overwhelmed...that's my life on many days. I could totally relate.
8. Said goodnight to Devin and was sad to go to sleep without him next to me.

We're Moving to San Diego!

Um, no not really, but I do love it there! If I could afford to have a home on the beach I wouldn't hesitate, but that will probably never happen.

Here are some pics from our trip to see Daddy!

Beach Glamor Shot...yikes, I though my face was on fire! Beautiful, I know!
Here is Granny and Jaxon making some shapes from Play Dough. I love the shirt tucked into the underwear. He picked those underwear to match his shirt. Very fashion conscious already--gets it from his daddy.
Orange lips from eating raw carrots for a snack. I love that smile!
This was a cool statue in Balboa Park.
Little model baby
TOO CUTE!
Poor Jaxon...we went into a hot sauce store and he must have touched something when we weren't looking because five minutes after we walked out of the store he started screaming and we smelled peppers. He rubbed it in his eye! All around it was red. After crying and screaming for twenty minutes, he crashed. I felt so bad for the little guy!
Their first ride on a Merry-Go-Round. Jaxon was so somber. Henry thought he was gonna get a drink when I sat down with him so he basically squirmed and screamed the whole time.
Daddy playing with Henry right after Henry woke up. His little sleepy face is so cute!
Aquarium with Granny.
Jaxon loved the sharks.
Jaxon made a "nest" with the table chairs, some pillows, and toys. It's one of his new favorite things to do.
Daddy and baby Henry
Notice Devin's right hand...he's playing swords with Jaxon.
Henry after eating. I actually had to throw that onsie away because the food (apricots and bananas) was like smooshed into the fabric and wouldn't come out.
A few moments later...get me outta here!
We took the boys to see the San Diego Temple. It's so pretty. We asked Jaxon who was on top and he said "Angel Oni."
It might be hard to see, but this pic shows Henry's first little wings in his hair. I'm excited to see if his hair will be like Jaxon's with crazy cute wings and curls!
Jaxon shooting Spidy webs at the temple.
Um, it was a little sunny. I love all the squinty faces!
Jaxon admiring the flowers at the temple. The other day he said he was going to "Find another girl" (he wanted Mommy, but I explained that I'm already married to Daddy) "and give her flowers then get married in the temple." It was precious! He thought of giving her flowers all on his own! Look out ladies, this kid is gonna make a great catch! Hopefully he'll pick up cooking from his daddy and he'd be the whole package!
Jaxon and Daddy warming up at the beach. I thought Jaxon wouldn't like the cold ocean water, but he LOVED getting splashed (and sometime knocked down) by the waves. His lips were purple and she was shaking all over from shivering before we convinced him to take a break and warm up.
Henry definitely enjoyed the beach:)
Oh, there was this creepy drunk homeless man that stopped and talked literally 6 times. He said, "I apologize, I may be a little buzzed, but these kids just melt my heart." Um, yeah, a little?

I LOVE this pic. Not only is it of the beautiful ocean and sunset, but look at how handsome Devin is and that cute face Jaxon is making.
"Op-a-pus"

And this is a nasty sweet potato growing in my pantry when I got home. When they start growing it's always freaky!

Love My Girls!

I just gotta say I LOVE how all the girls commented on the Bachelorette!  Haha:)

Oh, and I leave tomorrow to go see my lover!  Yea!  I'm SO excited!!!

Bachelorette

First off, I got a GPS...Garmin 885T.  I really like it, but because much of the area where we live is new, the data isn't updated.  I even downloaded the most recent map update and it's still not current enough.  The hospital where Henry was born was built over a year ago and it's not listed!  I figure maybe it's okay that my Target isn't listed, but a hospital should be updated!

Anyway...what I really wanted to talk about is...The Bachelorette!

I like Jake, Michael, and Ed.

Jake is a pilot.  He's the one who got to see Martina McBride with Jillian.  He is just so cute and he seems so genuine and nice and like he would just treat her so sweet!  He seems like such a gentleman.  I like him the best.  He's got the cute side smile goin' on.

Michael is the breakdance teacher from New York.  He's a cutie and I think he seems like such a nice guy and really  funny too.  I think they would have a lot of fun together.  She hasn't had a one-on-one date with him yet though, so I need to know more about him still.

Ed is the one who did the rope climb off the building.  He seems fun and pretty nice.  But, I think he might be a little bit too wrapped up in his career.  He did say it was something he was working on though.

Oh, and Kiptyn seems pretty cool too, but I need to know more.

Okay...on to who I don't like...Tanner P, Wes, Dave, and Juan

Tanner and his feet fetish...crazy!  I understand liking feet, but he is so obsessed!  He said he wanted to suck on her toes...gross!  It's a little weird, actually, I think it's a LOT weird!

Wes is the country singer.  I think he's kinda cute, but I don't trust him.  There's just something about him.  I can't realy put my finger on it yet.  He is also very possessive of her already, which is a little much.  Sure she is flattered by the song, but he might just want the exposure for his career.  I say no more roses for Wes.

Dave is the one who hates Juan.  Enough drama already!  Geez!  You are like 100 times worse than a girl!  He has such a temper and swears like crazy.  Not really a gentleman.  Let him go!  Oh, and just a side note:  when he gets mad his eyes pop out like Molly's from Bachelor's last season!

Juan is the guy Dave hates.  He's just not very manly.  He seems kinda sissy to me.  He can go too.

So...who do you like and not like???

Working Out

I have been doing the work out video "30 Day Shred" by Jillian Michaels, The Biggest Looser trainer.  It has 3 levels and I'm doing level 3 now and looking for maybe something else.  I would do something more serious like P90X, but I don't have that much time in a day to work out.  I really love this video because I got results and the workout only takes 20 minutes.  Moral of the story:  I want an intense workout that doesn't take long.

The other day I saw a minute of an infomercial for "Melt it off with Mitch" (3 Day Melt.com).  It looks pretty cheese, but I kinda wanna try it.  Anyone have any experience with it?

The Panties Don't Fit!

I don't like wearing big girl panties!  I miss my husband!  It's not the fact that I have to do everything around the house.  It's that I don't have my best friend here with me.

I thought the worst part about Devin being gone was that I would have to do everything around the house...Garbage--yuck, putting both kids to bed--tiring, cooking--frustrating...I didn't really think about the friendship that I was going to miss.  Devin knows me and loves me.  He understands me and helps me.  He talks to me and listens to me.  He hugs me and holds me when I need it.  I even miss him always trying to grab my butt.

He's been gone a week now and last night before I went to bed I was thinking about how much I miss him.  He called a few minutes after I fell asleep and I just remember going on and on about how I missed him and I didn't want to hang up the phone.  I probably sounded like a crazy person!

The only pro...Less cooking=less dishes:) ha

I don't think families are supposed to be apart.  My heart goes out to all those women who have to do it without their husbands.

Opinions Please

Okay, so I've been in the market for a GPS for a while now and Costco has some on an awesome sale so I think now is the time to buy.  I've read reviews, but they are all inconsistent.  It sounds like pretty much it doesn't matter the brand, all GPS devices work well but occasionally get mixed up and have little glitches with directions.  So I want your opinions...

Is one brand superior to the others, Tom Tom, Garmin, Magellan?

This is the one I've been eyeing...Garmin 855
I like how it has the view of the signs from the road.  I believe this is the only GPS with this feature.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11468756&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US&s=1

Then, there is this one...Magellan 5310
It's cheaper and it got a little better reviews.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11473205&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US&s=1

And, a TomTom

There are more listed here:
http://www.costco.com/Common/Search.aspx?Dx=mode+matchallpartial&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&N=5000043&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&ViewAll=31&Ntk=Text_Search&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&lang=en-US&D=GPS&search=GPS&Ntt=GPS&topnav=

Or, Amazon is always a good buying research source.

I don't know!!!  Please give me opinions and suggestions on these or any other GPS devices you know about!  How does anyone decide???
