Tomorrow I have to put my Big Girl Panties on!

As my friend Ashtyn said it:)

Okay, so I am very sad to say that tomorrow Devin is leaving for San Diego for the summer to sell pest control with a company called Moxie Pest Control.  I will miss him SO much and I know the boys will too!  Jaxon and Devin play swards and "wrestle main-we-a" every day when Devin gets home.  At least we will be able to see him for about ten days around the the middle of the summer.  I will be staying home with the boys and probably going a little bit, who am I kidding?  a lot crazy!

A few nights ago, as Devin and I were watching the season finale of 90210, it really hit me that he was going to be gone.  I started thinking about putting both boys to bed every night (Devin usually does Jaxon and I do Henry--that's what Devin's doing now), all the house chores, and mostly COOKING!!??  People, I know I can cook, like I am fully able to read a recipe and use kitchen tools, but do I enjoy it?  NO.  Do I want to do it?  NO.  Mostly because of all the interruptions from the boys.  There is a slight chance I might like it if I didn't have to stop every five minutes to make sure Jaxon wasn't sitting on Henry or trying to feed him rocks.  Needless to say, I got all stressed and I have been pretty grumpy the last few days since I had that realization moment.

So, anyway, now that you know what is going on and how stinkin' ornery I've been, listen to this...

My sweet husband made me my favorite dessert:  blueberry pie!  Yum!  It's all from scratch of course, crust, filling, fresh blueberries.  Wow, I just might eat the whole thing tonight!  No, actually I need to savor it and make it last since he won't be making me any other yummy desserts for a while.  (He said it would be ready at 9:00 and I am counting down!)

That was so sweet and thoughtful of him and I just love him so much.  We are totally best friends and he is like the best listener I know.  Crazy, right?  A guy, a good listener?  But it's true.  He is thoughtful and when I have a concern, he is always willing to do what he can to make things better.  He is really incredible!  One thing I think is true about our relationship is, "We're not perfect, but we're perfect for each other."

Anyway, so now that I got all that out, I am going to try to think and say only positive things about the situation and see how that goes!  I'm sure it will be fine.  I can be independent when I have to be.

Here's to me keeping my sanity without him....

and...

blueberry pie!

That's funny you mentioned the cooking. I was thinking about that just today and how you were going to handle it. You can come over and eat dinner with us if you want- we can have a standing day during the week if it's easier. Or, you could make a cassarole and just eat it for a few days, it will cut down on the number of times you have to actually cook. Don't forget to bring the boys over every once in a while so you get a break!

You are so cute Ruthann! You are so lucky to have such an amazing husband. Maybe I will someday...

You can come over here anytime to hang out. Corey even offered (when I told him about it) to watch Jaxon for you with our other kids if you and I wanted to do something (and take Henry along). Anytime. Just give me a call.

I know how hard it can be without your husband, Johnny went to Texas for a while to do roofing for the hurricane relief. It was hard, but it also strengthens your marriage. It makes you realize how much you depend on your husband. Our husbands sound so much alike! You are always welcome to hang out with me and my kids...we loved having you over the other day!

Ruthann, I feel for ya. That would be so hard to be with out your guy the entire summer. It's kind of pathetic because I still get excited when I see Jason's car pull up the drive way... I can't imagine having to kids and being a single parent for the summer. You have a great husband and kids. You'll do awesome. Also, I think it's healthy to express how you really feel!

I'm thinking of creating a big girl panties group for all of the gals out there in our ward that are going to be without a husband this summer. You know I'm home. When you need a serenity now moment, let me know!

Let me point out a few good things that will help you get through it:
1. You don't have to make sure that the house is clean for when he gets home from work so it looks like you accomplished something that day.
2. You can have pancakes or waffles, with eggs any night of the week. (or whatever Jaxon's favorite is.
3. You can miss a day or two of showering, and no one will notice. ;-)
4. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I hope this helps. Lets get the boys together and let them play. Good luck. Call if you need anything.

Sounds tough. I don't think I'd be able to put on my big girl panties... but then again... I don't even have any panties. but still - Best Wishes!
