Him & Her

I am in the process of putting the pictures from our old computer on our Mac.  It has been fun to see some old pictures.

Here we are, Christmas 2005.  We had been married 1 year.

Mothers

I saw these quotes on a friend's blog and stole them for my own...

“Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels." –Elder Russell M. Nelson

"To help another human being reach one’s celestial potential is part of the divine mission of woman. As mother, teacher, or nurturing saint, she molds living clay to the shape of her hopes. In partnership with God, her divine mission is to help spirits live and souls be lifted. This is the measure of her creation. It is ennobling, edifying, and exalting." –Elder Russell M. Nelson

"I affirm my profound belief that God’s greatest creation is womanhood. I also believe that there is no greater good in all the world than motherhood. The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation." –Elder James E. Faust

Even though motherhood it hard and I complain at times, my children really are some of the greatest blessings in my life (second only to my wonderful husband).  I know I am truly blessed to claim the role of "mommy" in life.  And though I fall short daily, I try to be the mother God knows all women can be.

I am also blessed to have a wonderful mother of my own.  She really is the best out there!  I know she would do anything for me and I love her so much!

And again I was blessed when I got the best mother-in-law!  She is so great and I love her too!

Happy Mothers Day!

Watch this Video

See it on Nie Nie's blog here.

It is so inspiring and a wonderful reminder of a few things that sometimes we, or especially me, need to be reminded of.

Stephanie Neilson is one of my heros.  I love reading her blog.  I always feel uplifted and blessed.

Potato Heads

A few Saturdays ago, Devin and I ran some errands with the boys and when we got home he and I started making dinner in the kitchen while the boys played with their potato heads in the toy room.  We can see them from the kitchen and it was so cute to watch them play so well together.

As I watched them play, I reflected back on the day we spent together.  It was pretty much perfect.  We didn't do anything big, or expensive, or terribly exciting, but it was a perfect day spent with the three boys I love most in life.  I thought about how amazingly blessed I am to have all these boys in my life.

They played for about an hour and still did not want to stop when it was bath time.  We convinced them with promises of stories after bath and they got excited to read.  They are so sweet.

I'm so thankful for days like that.

Oh, I Love You

Many times during each day I pick up Henry and usually when I do I usually give him a tight squeeze and say, "Oh, I love you."
Well, a few days ago I picked him up, hugged him, and said, "Oh, I love you."  I noticed he said something back.  I hugged him said it again and he said something back again.  I tried it a third time and really listened to what he was saying.  It sounded something like "Ooov you."  I realized he was trying to say, "I love you."  It was so sweet and the first time he tried to say those three little words.  My heart melted!  I love my sweet little guy!

PS...Notice the huge bruise on his forehead?  Whenever he gets mad, he bangs his head on purpose.  Usually he'll bend down and hit it on the floor, even if it's tile.  Sometimes he'll walk over and bang it on the wall or refrigerator.  If he wakes up from his nap and I don't get him quick enough, he'll hit it on his crib bars.  If there's nothing around to bang it on, he'll just hit himself on the forehead.  It's really frustrating to me because, obviously, I don't want him hurting himself!  But, at the same time, he does it for attention and kind of out of spite.  Devin used to do it when he was a baby and toddler, so maybe it's genetic!

The good news is, Jaxon never did anything like it.  Oh, wait, that was until he saw Henry doing it and so now Jaxon does it sometimes too.

3 Little Words

i love you

I love those words.

They make me feel warm inside when I hear them.  I feel warm when I say them to someone.

Sometimes, when I get a message on my phone and the caller ends the message by saying, "I love you" I save the message just so I can hear that again.  (I just got a message from my Grandpa and saved it for that reason.)  It makes my heart happy.  :)

25 Things I Love About Devin

Sunday was Devin's 25th Birthday. So, I thought it would be fun to post 25 things I love about him. Here they are:

1. He cooks!
2. His perfect hands and feet.
3. His unique voice.
4. His cute butt!
5. His desire to be healthy, from eating to exercising.
6. He loves to make me laugh and he's super good at it.
7. He is still a little boy at heart.
8. He loves me and would do anything for me.
9. He loves his family and shows it. Even if something happens that might upset him, he looks past it because he knows family is the most important thing and whatever the problem is, it is not as important as and having a good relationship with those we love. (He doesn't sweat the small stuff.)
10. He loves the Lord and the church and he honors his priesthood and fulfills his callings.
11. He works hard for his family.
12. He makes sure we have family prayer and scripture study and go to the temple.
13. He always compliments me on my physical looks and the things I do.
14. He loves to listen when I have a problem or issue or even to dumb girl drama!
15. He likes to cuddle and be affectionate.
16. He is a wonderful daddy to our little boys. He is so good at playing with them and caring for them.
17. When he doesn't know about something that comes up, it could be anything, he'll research it until he is informed about it.
18. During sacrament meeting, he's either sleeping or bugging Jaxon to keep himself awake--this is a new thing; he used to behave in church. He claims the benches have something to do with hitting pressure points that make him sleepy--yeah right!
19. He bears his testimony often.
20. At times, he's not very easygoing, but it has taught me to be more so; we're a good pair.
21. He is very good at talking to people and making a good first impression.
22. He doesn't yell-ever.
23. He is totally goofy!
24. I love the sharp features of his face: his jaw, chin, nose, etc...
25. He's going bald and I don't care!

Oh, one more: He's honest.
