Nada

I've got nothing to post about.  Nothing exciting is going on.  I haven't taken any cute pictures of my kids lately.

I cleaned out Devin's car today and it was disgusting.  Trash and crumbs everywhere.  Surprisingly, it didn't smell bad in there.  Good thing.  I probably would have puked if it did.  I rarely ride in his car and to him, he doesn't care if last week's water bottle doesn't get thrown out, so the car gets trashed.  We took it on our date the other night and I finally decided I had to step in.  I understand it's not one of his priorities because he has a lot of other stuff to worry about, and so do it, but it's just too gross for me not to clean it up.  He doesn't know I did it so we'll see how surprised he is...

Daily Cleaning

When a possible daycare client came to meet me and see my house she asked me,   "How do you keep your house so clean?"

I said, "Well, I like it clean."

She said, "Yeah, I like mine clean too, but I can't keep it like this."

I guess what I should have said was, "I spend a lot of time cleaning."  She's right.  Most people do like their house to be clean, but not everyone likes to spend their time cleaning.

I don't necessarily like cleaning itself, but I can't stand when the house is dirty, so I clean to get to the end result:  a clean house.  I clean often, so the job doesn't get overwhelming either.  It's certainly not spotless, but rarely is it in a condition where would I be embarrassed for someone to walk in unannounced.

That little experience led to this:

I was texting with a friend the other day about our cleaning experiences of the current day.  I was telling Devin and I suggested that I do an experiment of not doing a single dish or picking up a single thing for a whole day and see what the house looks like.  He responded like this, "Ew.  Yuck.  You know how bad that would be."

He's right.  It would be scary.  I don't think I'll try it.  I guess I'll keep spending a lot of time cleaning.

Crumbs

See those 3 little brown crumbs?  They're tiny!

Henry brought them to me pinched between his little fingers.  He found them on the couch and decided he needed to bring them to me and complain about it.  He was all grouchy about it like they were bothering him and he was so upset about it.  I told him to go throw them away and he did.  Wow, I hope he doesn't look to close around the rest of the house.  Heaven knows he'll find many more crumbs to complain about!

Swiffer Wet Jet!

I just have to say I LOVE this thing!

For Christmas my sweet mother-in-law bought me what I asked for, a Bissell Flip Eaze. It's a combination vacuum/mop with washable pads for the mop function. I thought I would love it, but for vacuuming it clogs with like the smallest amount of dog hair. And for mopping, it's heavy and the handle isn't very long, so it's very hard on my back (and I'm not even tall!)

So, today I finally broke down and bought a Wet Jet. I just got done with my floor and it was a wonderful moping experience! (Of course I had to sweep first since this doesn't have a vacuume, but it was totally worth it.) It took 2 pads to mop with the Bissell and the Wet Jet only took 1. Also, the Wet Jet doesn't leave streaks like the Bissell.

Okay, anyway, I guess when you are a stay-at-home-mom the smallest things are exciting! Haha...

So, if you are in the business of finding a mop...go with the Swiffer Wet Jet!
